Spring Beauty

I am in love with the new Ruche lookbook! Like every season. Sigh.

Sun Showers

This weekend I went to the chocolate festival held in nearby Pacific Beach! We tried chocolate with everything from habeneros and curry to pineapple and bacon! The lighting was sadly not great inside, but I got a few outside.
This is the other dress from the thrift store stop from Saturday! I love the way it goes from a flower print to a wide oriental pattern at the bottom. In for a dime, in for a dollar so I added pink shoes too! These are from Target.
We also checked out rentals closer to where I work, and I picked up some blackboard paint! This bracelet was a present to my grandma for her high school graduation.
Pacific Beach is a very neat looking town, with breathtaking beaches and colorful buildings.
There was even a man weaving these neat little baskets! They were still a little damp from the soaking that is part of the process.
Have a nice day!

Strait Arrow

Today was a yearly tradition in my husbands family, the Traditional Bowhunters Association banquet. My Father in law has been a enjoyed bow hunting since my hubby was little, and they have some really cool people and events. Its always kind of a weird thing to dress for though- not too formal, but definitely not strait-from-work attire. My fashion consultant (shown above) approved the ensemble.
The colors kind of reminded me of the bright feathers used for fletching. And I just got this dress yesterday! From a really amazing, and quick, stop at a thrift store. I stopped looking after I found this and another amazing dress, because there is only so much luck my wallet can stand. This bracelet came from a flee market! My brother is madly jealous of it.
Everything else I tried to keep pretty low key. Ankle boots from Ross, my trusty (thrifted) Calvin Klein field jacket and a small yellow headband. Oh and tights. Because it fluctuated wildly between hail, slush and sunshine today.
This little pink earrings with hammered silver links are from a craft show! You kind of expect a lot of rooster shaped jewelry from a thing like that, but over the years I've picked up a lot of neat little pieces like this. And the geode necklace from this post.
And because my makeup routine is unfailingly bronzer, mascara, brown eyeliner for a very long time now, I decided to switch up my routine. Green eye shadow from Physicians Formula, coral blush and this tinted balm from Maybeline are in the mix today!

Have a nice day!

Dirt and Paint

Took a few pictures of a row of murals, in an alley offered up by an owner to the community. So much color is so odd in February!

A little crazy!

These leggings make me a little nervous! I wasn't sure if they were too crazy to go out in public. But they are super cozy, and I'm tired of flashing people by accident! As opposed to on purpose. Just kidding!!
I actually got a few compliments though, and I think they'll become staples pretty soon.
Picking out shoes was kind of a challenge though, as boots would cover the pattern on the bottom, and I haven't got any ballet flats. These worked out perfectly, and matched my belt! Not a necessity normally, but kind of a nice foil to the crazy things on my legs.
The bracelets from this post had a pattern that reminded me of the tights.
Look ma no flashing! Have a nice day!

Faded and Floral

This skirt has been a favorite for almost four years now. I wore it on vacation to the Smithsonian museum (I love mummys!). It has tiny scalloped lace all around the waistline.
And it has very nice flow to it, full but not bulky.

When I was a kid, my dad had an amazing Levis shearing lined jean jacket, perfectly faded in and so...cool. My brother and I argued over who would get it when he "outgrew" it. By the time we were old enough to wear it it had gotten so worn out, torn up and covered in paint,  the wind could blow through it. I have it anyway. (:
But I did find this jacket secondhand, and I can have as many adventures in it as my dad did in his.

Unexpected Bounty

Today I made a quick stop at an estate sale with my father in law. We have a love of secondhand shopping in common, which is nice! I found this neat sewing kit, which has everything from seam rippers to snaps and hem weights, two maps, and a beautiful scarf.
One of the maps is a lovely one of the location of Shakespear's plays, with illustrations of characters. The other is an enormous map of the United States, on real heavy satiny paper.
I'd love a whole wall for all my maps some day!

The final find was a blue silk scarf covered in painted flowers. I'll have to think of ways to wear this, but for now I'm enjoying just looking at it!
Have a great day!
